Sleeping bag invite

What's so special about turning 9? My youngest daughter has been waiting for this particular birthday since she was 5. She's had this party planned right down to the last detail before her 8th birthday was even over. Why? In our family you must be 9 years old to have a sleepover. That's just the rule. So on her 9th birthday, as a rite of passage, Lily will have her first sleepover party. A party like this one deserves a special invite so after playing around with the design studio I came up with this cute sleeping bag invite.

The carts used were George (rectangle - basic card shape), Old West (feed bag for pillow), and Everyday Paperdolls (girl and teddybear). The party info was attached to the inside of the card. I'm sure this idea isn't original, but there was no scraplifting this time. This design was all me! :)

Another birthday, another invite. This time it was a Toy Story party for my son's 5th birthday. The card base was created with Design Studio - by welding two 5 1/2" frames from the Toy Story cart. Woody was cut at 3 1/2". Matching envelopes were done using Wild Card and Design Studio.

What is it with slumber parties? It seems like that's all we do around here! This cute invite used all Stampin' Up papers from the brights collection. The card is just a square cut from George at 6". Everything else comes from the Slumber Party cart. The scalloped border was cut at 6 1/4", pajamas were cut at 2 1/4", and the sentiment was cut at 2 3/4".

Not sure what's up with my camera but the colors in the picture are a bit washed out - the green is more of a lime green while the other colors are actually brighter.

Birthday Invite (an orignal)

This is a rare thing, but this invite is 100% original. Honestly! I used the star card from the Wildcard cart cut @ 5 1/2". The singer came from the Hannah Montana cart (rock star feature) cut @ 5". paper were all Bazzil except for the dress & boots. Those were from a DCWV glitter matstack. The stamp is CTMH.

The hardest part was only writing under the star;-).

Pun Fun Card Set

I've given myself a challenge - to use all my stamps (at least once)! I know y'all will only believe it when you see it so I'll do my best to keep my blog updated as I create. I did manage to mount all the stamp sets that have been sitting on my shelf since we moved into the new house and as soon as I use at least a few of those I can order a few more.

I also found time to do a little crafting. This TSL was inspired by Theresa.

This card set uses Stampin' Up's Pun Fun set. The little cards are 3x3. I cut the square frames with the cricut using George, then embossed with various folders on the cuttlebug. Matching envelopes were cut using the Wildcard cart. The box was made following Theresa's template in the above link. I think it turned out cute, now I just have to decide what to do with it.

Cookie Tower

Thanks to Kasey @ Kasey'sKreations for sharing this great .cut file for a cookie tower. This was a much prettier way to deliver cookies to teachers on the first day of school. Paper used was from DCWV Citrus Stack. Cut file used George & Storybook.

Disney Bookmarks

These cute Disney bookmarks were totally scraplifted from Splitcoaststampers. I made about 45 of these to send to school the last day. They were so cute and simple it made it hard to resist. The scallops and circles were cut using the Mini Monograms cart. After doing so many of these I now understand why wonky scallops are a pain. They were a bit hard to line up with that odd slant some had, but for the most part I think I got it right. The Disney bottle caps are from EK Success. I also used the jumbo paper clips - these things are HUGE about 3 1/2 inches long. I'm not sure how everyone else put theirs together, but I used a hot-glue gun between the front and the black scallop I put on the back. Hopefully getting a bookmark encouraged someone to read over the summer.

My 3 year old son insisted on making his big sister an Elmo card for her 12th birthday. He thought it was the funniest thing ever! Cute too.

St. Paddy's Day

I finally decided to download my pictures off my camera and came across these cute little treats we made and sent in to the school for St. Patrick's Day. Both the circle and scalloped circle were cut using the Cricut. The stamp was from one of the $1 packs - Studio G I think. This was a TSL from here.

Lydia's lap-desk

This was a quick birthday gift for a party Macknezie went to this past weekend. We filled a lap-desk with art supplies and personalized it. The name was done using Storybook Font and the butterfly is from Hello Kitty Greetings.

5 X 5 boxes

We wanted to send in a special Valentine's treat for the teachers this year so we came up with the idea of homemade fudge in a heart shape. I found some large heart cookie cutters and we used them as a mold for the fudge. They were about 5" wide and 1" thick and looked great - unfortunately I didn't think to take a picture until after I boxed them up. I found this tutorial by Beate on Splitcoaststampers. I love the look and simplicity of these boxes so of course I tsl'd them! I made adjustments to the measurements so the fudge would sit snug. The box bottom was cut at 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" and scored at 1 1/4" on all 4 sides. The lid was cut at 7" x 7" and scored at 15/16ths on all 4 sides. The lid was punched using the fiskar's scallop punch. The papers are from K and Company's super cute stack.

Hello Kitty Valentines

Hello Kitty valentines using the card feature on my new Hello Kitty cart! All 24 of these were cut at 3 1/2". I tsl'd LeslieWebster's idea of adding the bows and flowers. Also instead of piecing in the tiny nose I used Stickles. I think they turned out too stinkin' cute. I don't think I'll ever outgrow Hello Kitty!

Knock-off Top Note Bags

This is my version of the top-note bag I keep seeing everywhere. Using CDS I took a shape from the Storybook cart that looks similar to the top-note die and welded an oval to make the handles. All the paper is from a K and Company stack. DD used these cute bags to hold her valentines and treats for her classmates.

Pencil Buckets

100 days of school = 100 pencils for each class. I kept it really simple this time. I used the Mickey font in CDS and welded the letters together. Tin bucket was 97 cents at Walmart. Paper was DCWV.

This purse was made using TBBM cart. The flower is Prima. No scraplifting here because it's pretty basic. It was for one of the girls' friend's birthday. We filled it with cash, bubble gum, and lip gloss. She's saving money for something special so dd insisted we give her money.

Slumber Party Invites

9 is the magic number here in our house - that's the age you have to be before you can do slumber parties...so SURPRISE...we're having a slumber party next week on my DD's 9th birthday. She chose a dog theme so this is what I came up with. My inspiration and most of the poem came from here. I made 12 of them - surely (hopefully) the day after Christmas some of the girls will be out of town.

Thanksgiving goodies

Yesterday was spent making Thanksgiving treats for the teachers and kids at school.

Keeping with the tradition from our last school there were a couple of Chocolate-Pecan Pies for elementary teachers.

Pilgrim Hats for the kids. We've been making these for about the last 4 or 5 years and the kids still get excited every year. After making about 70 of these I'm expecting to eat at least one!

And finally nugget boxes for the middle school teachers. I am so glad I found that tutorial on SCS! These are so easy to make (esp. with my new Scor-It). These hold 8 nuggets.

Halloween treats for the teachers. This TSL is from Shelly on SCS. I also found a great tutorial for nugget boxes from cdjkssss. She has just about any size box you could ever need. The one I chose will hold 6 of the Hershey's Nuggets.

This is one of the treat bags I'll be sending to school for Halloween. It was made using the CDS with George and TBB&M carts. Basically it's the inch bag made shorter with a face cut out on one side.

Boy's Baptism Card

My inspiration for this card came from stampingout on Splitcoasters. I used CDS to design my version. The front of the card is covered with white satin fabric. I also used the swiss dots embossing folder on the vest.

Last minute gift for Teacher's Birthday

My first-grader came home yesterday exclaiming "Tomorrow is my teacher's birthday! I need to give her a present..." So when the kids were finally in bed last night this is what I came up with. Hopefully it resembles a Hall Pass or something useful. I used the Storybook Font with the Cricut Design Studio for the hall pass and Doodlecharms for the card and envelope.

*Turns out it wasn't her birthday after all, but it is her husband's. LOL Just my luck!
